Taxi Ovation

To help the hospitals combat Covid-19 with Taxi Ovation – a fundraiser was created to provide free taxi-ride services for healthcare workers in partnership with Makita General Hospital and Kyoritsu Taxi Co., Ltd. The aim was to increase the welfare of hospital staff during this pandemic as well as providing business for companies who were affected by it.

OPPORTUNITY

With the Covid-19 pandemic, many planned events have been postponed/cancelled. Eggworm wanted to give back and support the frontline workers and help other businesses stay afloat. Most medical workers in Tokyo rely on public transportation, and we wanted to create an option for them that would reduce their commute time on mass transit.

SOLUTION

Partnering with Makita General Hospital and the taxi companies Condor Magome Kotsu Co., Ltd.  and Kyoritsu Taxi Co., Ltd., we created Taxi Ovation, a fundraiser to support the healthcare workers by providing free taxi rides to/from their home and workplace. This would reduce the risk of infection and keep our healthcare system from collapsing, all while providing jobs for the taxi companies that have seen a major decline in business. With the increased trips to/from the hospitals, each taxi driver was provided guidance from the doctors at the hospital on how to disinfect themselves and the taxi after every trip.

RESULT

Taxi Ovation was able to fund for taxi rides to/from 3 hospitals and 2 nursing homes. The project was featured on 2 national broadcast tv shows, 1 national newspaper and over 100 websites. it has also gained attention on social media from popular Japanese talents.
